EN Reinforced Learning is a video installation that combines humor and analysis to imagine alternative scenarios for the future of robotics and AI. Van Loon works with AI-generated videos and replaces humans with humanoid robots in a series of Snapchat-like ‘fail videos. The result is an installation consisting of a compilation of short videos in which not humans but robots perform a wide range of irrational and inefficient actions. Van Loon researches and visualizes today’s digital culture from the perspective of transience and permanence. NL Reinforced Learning is een video-installatie die humor en kritisch denken combineert om scenario’s voor de toekomst van robotisering en AI uit te dagen. Het gebruikt een AI met visuele effecten om mensen te vervangen door humanoïde robots in een reeks verschillende “failvideo’s”. Dit resulteert in een compilatie van korte video’s waarin niet wij als mensen, maar dit keer robots, een breed scala aan irrationele en inefficiënte acties laten zien. Van Loon onderzoekt de huidige digitale cultuur en die hij visualiseert vanuit het perspectief van vergankelijkheid en bestendigheid.
